Originating over 2,000 years ago, these remarkable vestiges of human spirit, captured forever in stone, came to world attention during the mid-1900s. Passed down from elder to youth, Shona Sculpture evolved gracefully through hundreds of generations. As an art form, it is part of the most prominent contemporary movement ever to emerge from the African continent.
With a base and wholesale warehouse in Harare Zimbabwe and retail gallery and wholesale warehouse in Edmonton, Alberta Canada, Murungo Ano Penga Inc. is dedicated to the vigorous promotion of these genuine African masterpieces - and with them - the magnificent character, culture and soul of the world's oldest civilization.
Since 1999 Murungo has been exporting Zimbabwean Shona Stone Sculpture and other artifacts out of Zimbabwe and importing into Canada on a continuously large scale. Now based in both Zimbabwe and Canada, all of our buying is being done by Shaun O'Brien and our Zimbabwean partners. With each piece being hand picked, we can guarantee our top quality product and service to our customers with each and every piece we carry. Shaun deals personally with ALL artists we represent and therefore knows our product inside and out.

On a personal note, we at Murungo would like to take a moment to thank the artists, family, friends, clients, and business associates that have stood by us over the years and to the ones that we meet every day that are making our endeavour possible. In the beginning, many people thought our concept was a crazy idea. If it wasn’t for the dream and persistence of two people that saw what it could be, myself (Shaun) being one of them and to the other, I thank you.
